Breaching health and safety legislation during any engineering project is a criminal offence which can lead to fines and imprisonment. Keeping up with legal requirements is a problem especially as the past couple of years have seen a mass of new health and safety regulations. Any engineer with line management responsibilities must appreciate the safety requirements of their own department and must be able to review them if these fall short of legal requirements.
This intensive and hands-on training course provides first a thorough foundation on all the practical aspects of managing health and safety and an overview of specific hazards in the typical engineer’s workplace. Then, it will provide you with comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2007 and how these should be implemented in practice. The Regulations are put in context with other key health and safety legislation regulations.
As the CDM regulations are applicable to any engineer or technical professional involved, directly or indirectly, in construction work, this course will clearly help you outline the roles and responsibilities of the principal duty holders and explore through case studies how these roles may vary on different types of project and procurement routes.
